"It's very challenging," Raducanu admitted. "You'd love to have more time to practice and acclimatize, but I'm trying to make the most of the situation. It's easy to get discouraged, but it won't help. I'm focusing on tomorrow's match."
Raducanu's match follows a best-of-five-sets men's match between Alexander Bublik and Jenson Brooksby, which could contribute to the late start. She faces a talented opponent, Sawangkaew, a 23-year-old Thai player who broke into the top 100 last year. Sawangkaew's ranking of No. 195 is due to a six-month injury layoff.
"Scheduling women's matches after potential five-set matches is difficult," Raducanu explained. "It doesn't make as much sense to me, but I understand the initial reaction. It's a new experience for me, and I need to learn to adjust and deal with it."
This isn't the first time Raducanu has faced such a challenge. She recalled a similar situation during the US Open semi-finals, where she played a night match. However, this will be a new experience, and she's determined to make the most of it.
